A Silly Donation

I forgot I had this photo.  It was a clipping that I took from Country Magazine 3 years ago.  Does anyone know what this is?

This is a modern "simmer ring" that you can buy one for about 25 cents.  Every household in Egypt has one.  Not only does it keep your rice from burning on the stove, you can also use it to heat up your pita bread.  Pita bread that is sold on the street is better heated up by a flame, however, because sometimes it is very possible that your piece of bread sat resting on a wall or on the ground.  I actually saw this yesterday.  Those silly country folk!
